ISLAND THEATRE
TEN-MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL
ANNUAL SHOWCASE OF ORIGINAL PLAYS BY LOCAL AUTHORS
Every August, Island Theatre presents the Ten-Minute Play Festival – a juried selection of plays by Kitsap County playwrights—both established and aspiring. The selected plays are fully staged and
performed in both evening and matinee performances.
The deadline for play submissions each year is Valentine's Day, February 14th. Sign up for our mailing list below to receive notifications.
Leading up the Festival, we present Meet the Playwrights, a panel discussion and Q&A with the playwrights behind each year’s selected plays.
In the fall we offer a TEN-MINUTE PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP – a hands-on class that gives you a jumpstart on writing a play for next year’s Festival.

Calling all actors! Island Theatre will be holding auditions for the 2026 Ten-Minute Play Festival on May 2 and 3, 2026. Auditions will be held both days from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at The Grange, 10340 Madison Ave NE on Bainbridge Island. Actors only need to attend one of the two audition days — either May 2 or May 3.
** Advanced registration is required **
Approximately 30 actors will be selected, ranging in age from high school to senior citizen. Actors will be cast in ten ten-minute plays, including dramas, comedies, and everything in between.
Audition actors will read from sides. No prepared monologues are necessary.
Actors must be available for rehearsals from May through early August. Rehearsal schedules will be determined by each play’s cast and director to allow for flexibility. Actors must also be available during Festival production week, August 16 through 22.
Festival performances will take place August 20, 21, and 22 at the Buxton Center for the Arts at Bainbridge Performing Arts.
The Ten-Minute Play Festival is Island Theatre’s annual celebration of Kitsap County playwrights, actors, and directors. It features ten ten-minute plays selected by a panel of theatre professionals from approximately 65 submissions. The chosen plays are produced in ten fully staged performances.
